Silicon Slag
What Is Silicon Slag
Silicon slag is a by-product of silicon metal smelting. Its main component is more than 60% si metal. Other components are calcium silicate, calcium oxide, silicon dioxide and a small amount of unreacted carbon. Silicon slag is hard in texture, dark gray with metallic luster and stable in character.
Silicon Slag Production Process
In the process of industrial silicon smelting, after the molten liquid metal silicon is poured into the furnace from the ore furnace, the silicon liquid on the upper surface is mixed with scum (calcium silicate, calcium oxide, silicon oxide). After the furnace bag is completely cooled, condensation forms irregular lumps on the bottom of the furnace bag. This is silicon slag.

About Silicon Slag Packing And Delivery
Silicon Slag Uses
Silicon slag is mainly used in the steelmaking industry. Since the silicon content in the silicon slag can reach 60-65%, after being broken into standard blocks and put into molten steel, the furnace temperature can be effectively improved, and the fluidity and slag discharge efficiency of molten steel can be improved. At the same time, it can also play a part of deoxidation, reduce the amount of ferrosilicon in subsequent processes, and reduce production costs.
