Carbon raiser, also know as recarburizer, carbon raiser. It is mainly used in steelmaking and casting. It is a product for increasing the carbon element (C).
For Steelmaking: mainly to improve the carbon content of steel, thereby improving the physical and chemical properties of steel. Different grades of steel have different carbon requirements. However, it is difficult to meet the precise carbon requirements of steel grades in steelmaking. Therefore, the carbon content of steel is reduced to the lowest level required for steel grades in the furnace. Then, after the steel is produced, it is slightly replenished to achieve the exact value.
For foundry industry: by increasing the carbon content in the liquid iron, the carburizer can significantly improve the strength and hardness of the casting. There is also the ability to reduce casting costs. For example, when using high-cost pure pig iron, by adding an appropriate amount of carbon raiser, the amount of pig iron used can be reduced, thus reducing the cost of castings.
Foosoon offers two kinds of carbon raiser, Calcined Petroleum Coke and Graphitized Petroleum Coke. Let’s take a look
Calcined Petroleum Coke
Graphitized Petroleum Coke
Calcined Petroleum Coke(CPC)
Calcined petroleum coke carburizer is to place low-sulfur petroleum coke in a calcining furnace. Calcination at 1300℃ is the product after removing impurities such as moisture, ash and volatiles in petroleum coke. The appearance of calcined petroleum coke is black or dark gray hard solid, which has a metallic luster. The component of calcined petroleum coke is hydrocarbon, containing more than 98.5% carbon.
Foosoon provides low sulfur calcined petroleum coke, and has fixed cooperation with a number of well-known carburant manufacturers, which can provide a stable supply of calcined petroleum coke carburant with sulfur content as low as 0.5%. We can provide you with reliable technical guidance and consultation free of charge to help you choose better carburizer products.

Graphitized Petroleum Coke(GPC)
Graphitized petroleum coke is also known as artificial graphite. The calcined petroleum coke is put into a graphitizing furnace. After a high temperature of about 3000 degrees, the amorphous carbon crystals of the petroleum coke are transformed into hexagonal layered crystal carbon, that is, the petroleum coke becomes graphite. This process is called graphitization. And the petroleum coke processed through the graphitization process is called graphitized petroleum coke.
The main features of the Graphitized Petroleum Coke:Low ash ,Low sulphur,Low resistivity,Low nitrogen. It eliminates most of the sulfur content, which can be lower than 0.03%, and the nitrogen content be as low as 100 PPM.
Graphitized petroleum coke particles as a carbon additive are widely used in the steel and casting industry. Especially for the environment and industry with high steel performance requirements, graphitized petroleum coke particles are basically selected as carbon raiser.
