What Is High Carbon Silicon
High-carbon silicon, also known as furnace bottom silicon, silicon-carbon alloy or high-carbon ferrosilicon. It is a new type of alloy used in converter. It is also a by-product of the production of metallic silicon. The main content consists of silicon and carbon. The general requirement is between 40-70 silicon, and the carbon content is between 10-25. Other contents are: silica, phosphorus, sulfur, etc.

High Carbon Silicon Producing Process
High carbon ferrosilicon is a by-product of silicon metal smelting. In the process of smelting silicon metal, due to the uneven heating of the electrode in the furnace, the raw material in the bottom part of the furnace fails to reach the optimal temperature required for the production of silicon metal. The small amount of silica and carbon at the bottom did not react adequately. After a long time of accumulation under high temperature conditions, it forms a block on the bottom of the furnace. These (stable) chunks are then broken up and those with a silicon content of 60 or more are selected. It is then broken into natural blocks of 10-50mm, or small particles of 0-3mm.
